The world’s sixth Living Certified residence – and second in Bend, Oregon – River Sol provides a visionary proof-of-concept for those aspiring to design and build a dwelling that gives back to planet Earth more than it takes. Regenerative architectural design informed all design + build decisions. A compact main house and an attached accessory dwelling unit were situated above the Deschutes River riparian zone on property once occupied by a small lumber mill in downtown Bend. River Sol is net positive energy; operates solely using precipitation that falls on site; was assembled using only rigorously-vetted, non-toxic, building materials; and is planted to rejuvenate indigenous flora and fauna populations.
